![]() ![]() ![]() Each individual profile entry begins with "0 and a long number that uniquely identifies each person. Scrolling down from the top, as soon as you see Name you are looking at the first profile of a person in the tree. But you can at least scroll through it or use CTRL + F to search for names you want to look at. Do not "save changes" if it asks when you close the file. Avoid making any edits to it as the formatting is very specific. Alternatively you can drag the GEDCOM file to the icon for the program and it will pop open in it.Īt the top you can see the GEDCOM version, what program it was exported from (Ancestry, etc.). It might make you browse for the program to open it with. Right click on the file and click "open with". FYI you can open GEDCOM files in a text editor such as notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac). ![]()
